C.A.B.I. Cattaneo: Bronze Sponsor of SF25

Cabi Cattaneo is a key player in the field of technological research, applied to the defence sector. in ninety years of activities, it has often made history, for example in the construction of the engines of some Mas vessels, one of which was used by D’Annunzio.

After the Second World War the company specialized in the making of special underwater vehicles, pioneering future technologies and maintaining leadership thanks to the training of highly qualified and discreet personnel.

We are aware that due to the nature of the sector you operate in, much information needs to be kept confidential, however as pioneers and leaders in the field, in your opinion what are the toughest yet stimulating challenges that you will have to face regarding  the underwater domain, both in the civilian and military in the upcoming 5 years?

We believe that, in the years to come, one of the most technologically challenging aspects will be the development of advanced AI algorithms, which will provide unmanned systems with robust and reliable decision-making autonomy, thereby expanding their potential operational applications.

How strategic do you consider the role of product customisation and modularity in the development of underwater vehicles for special operations? And what added value does the excellence of ‘’Made in Italy’’ bring in terms of construction quality, technological innovation, and the ability to meet the specific operational needs of clients?

Product customisation is a fundamental aspect: the operational requirements of the end user may necessitate configuration changes which, when considering dimensional and weight constraints, can significantly impact the vehicle. A modular design approach is certainly advantageous in this regard, as it makes the platform more versatile, facilitates innovation, and allows for the maximisation of shared components across different configurations. Our “tailored” approach to vehicle development is undoubtedly one of our strengths, consistent with the craftsmanship and attention to detail that distinguish Made in Italy products abroad.

Cabi Cattaneo is one of SeaFuture’s Bronze sponsors. From your perspective, how important and strategic is it for Italy to host an event like this, an international hub able to foster business and synergies between major national and international players of the naval sector alongside governmental, military, industrial, academic and research institutions?

Considering the relevance of Blue Economy for our country and the attention the world is placing on the naval sector (especially the underwater domain), we see SeaFuture as an ideal ‘’showroom’’ to promote national excellence to foreign Navies and an incubator of relationships between entities with diverse background united by a shared interest in the sea, technology and innovation.
