On the morning of November 10, SEAFUTURE presented its sponsorship aimed at university and high school students on board the ship Amerigo Vespucci moored in Spezia.
SEAFUTURE is the hub that creates business connections and synergies between national and international big players in the naval sector with government, military, industrial, academic and research realities. SEAFUTURE is now at its eighth edition, and, like the editions before, continues to dedicate a space to young people by reserving two prizes:
– SEAFUTURE AWARDS, created to enhance experimental, undergraduates, master’s or doctoral dissertations, developed in businesses, laboratories of University Departments or Research Centers throughout Italy and directed towards products or processes in the field of marine technologies that have a low environmental impact;
– SEAFUTURE AWARDS HIGH SCHOOLS, created to enhance essays and term papers written by students enrolled in the last two years of secondary schools in Liguria.
The two calls for tender focus on current issues such as the blue circular economy, energy efficiency, ecological transition, climate change, digital transition, IoT technologies, cybersecurity, robotics, logistics and transport.
The pandemic, international crises and the disastrous effects of climate change reminded us that Italy and Europe are highly dependent on the sea. We depend on the sea for the supply of raw materials and energy resources, for the export of products and trade on international markets , for the protection of the marine environment, for the correct use of its resources and for economic growth. Last but not least, for safety.
Focusing attention on these issues is equivalent to contributing to the economic development of our country. With this spirit, SEAFUTURE, which will take place from 5th to 8th June 2023 at the Naval Base of La Spezia, is aimed at young people with the intention of offering them valid opportunities for growth and future employment.
At the same time, the hub intends to offer companies the concrete possibility of establishing solid and lasting connections that can ensure a profitable transfer of technologies and increase a production and consumption model based on innovation, recovery and reuse of materials with a view to sustainability and circularity.
Young people interested in competing for the SEAFUTURE AWARS and SEAFUTURE AWARDS 2023 – HIGH SCHOOLS can submit their application and their papers in electronic format (pdf), accompanied by an abstract in Italian and English, no later than 12pm on 20th February 2023 on the dedicated platform on the website www.seafuture.it.
The Scientific Committee, made up of representatives from the Ligurian District of Marine Technologies and SEAFUTURE 2023 partners, will select the seven finalist papers. The winners will be announced during a public ceremony to be held during SEAFUTURE.
The seven finalists will have the opportunity to present their theses in a special exhibition area and to participate in one-to-one meetings, seminars and conferences as part of the event.
The SEAFUTURE AWARDS 2023 will be assigned during a dedicated public ceremony. The winner will be awarded a technology prize worth €2,000, the second place one worth €1,500, while the third one a prize worth €1,000. Alternatively, the winners will be able to choose an internship of equivalent value in an important company in the reference sector of the dissertation.
In regard to the SEAFUTURE AWARDS 2023 – HIGH SCHOOLS, the winners will be awarded technology prizes corresponding to the value of €1,000 for the first ranked, €700 for the second one and €500 for the third.
For the selection, the Scientific Committee will include a representative of the Regional School Office.
